I’m Obsessed: Eames Rocker Chair

Herman Miller – The Eames Rocker

Plastic, plywood, play. The fertile, curious minds of Charles and Ray Eames invented the modern American furniture vocabulary. Along with other visionaries like George Nelson, the Eameses brought new materials, new processes, and a new attitude to interior design. And they often did it by playing with form and structure in an inventive, childlike way. Charles encouraged experimentation among his staff, saying that he wanted “to have people working on useless projects. These have the germ of new concepts.”  —

Desk Accessories

I think it’s time I replace my coffee mug pencil holder and cardboard box storage system with some grown up desk accessories….

The design of the Pop-Up Pencil Cup is a solution to a basic problem with standard pencil cups – when filled with writing utensils the ones in the center cannot be easily accessed. Inspired by the classic drinking straw dispenser, designer Paul Koh created this useful desk accessory. When the red ball at the center of the holder is pulled up, the writing utensils held within neatly fan out, making each one accessible. Made of borosilicate glass, resin, and stainless steel.  Moma Store
